Obedience

Obedience is one of the AKC’s oldest sporting events. From walking on- and off-leash to retrieving and jumping, obedience trials feature dogs that are well-behaved at home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. It is essential that the obedience dog demonstrates willingness and enjoyment while it is working with the handler.

Rally

You and your dog will navigate a course, side-by-side, as you steer him through a course of 10-20 different signs. Each of these signs provides instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. There is a clear sense of teamwork between the dog and handler both during and between the numbered signs.

Trick Dog

Do you and your dog love to be the life of the party by showing off his arsenal of tricks? From the 1920’s and 1940’s, when trick dogs such as Rin Tin Tin and Lassie won peoples’ hearts, to 2017 when a trick dog made it to the finals on America’s Got Talent, trick dog training has always been – and still is — one of the most exciting areas in dog training. There are four AKC Trick Titles you and your dog can earn.

Coursing Ability

The first thing to know about the CAT is that dogs do not compete against each other. Each dog runs individually and chases after an artificial lure on either a 300- or 600-yard long course.  The course is for beginners, it is set up with safety in mind because we recognize that many of the dogs are new to the sport and might not possess the agility of an experienced sight hound.
